| Kshara Chikitsa:
This is the unique contribution of Ayurveda in the field of surgery. Even today it is used in our centre in the management of certain surgical diseases. Usage of this alkaline drug is an effective alternative procedure for some of the surgeries.
Fistula in Ano:Kshara sutra therapy- Non-invasive medicated thread treatment with no or minimal pain, high success rate, very minimal (1.5 %) recurrence rate and without anesthesia, bed rest, foul smell or tissue loss, but it is a long term therapy
Haemorrhoids (piles, Arshas): Ksharatherapy as per “Pervaje Technique”- a short term minimally invasive, non- surgical excision treatment, with rapid recovery. According to Ayurveda principles Kshara therapy followed by enema (basti) therapy can ensure reversal of pathology and re establishment of GI Function.
Pilonodal sinus (Nadee vruna): Using ksharasutra, which is a non invasive technique has a high success rate, recurrence rate of less than 1%, with no or minimal pain and without anesthesia, rest, foul smell or tissue loss.
Anal Fissure (Parikarthika):Ksharatherapy as per “Pervaje Technique”- a minimal invasive treatment under local or general anesthesia, followed by Agnikarma and sphincterotomy. Advantages: rapid recovery, short-term treatment, minimal pain, less recurrence.
Anal polyp, papilloma, sentinal pile, external piles: Kshara sutra therapy- minimally- invasive medicated thread treatment with very little tissue loss, less pain, less recurrence, and fast recovery
